The following tours and experiences have been created specifically for the 2010 MEA Conference. We hope that you will join one of these unique tours and see Melbourne with one of the experienced local guides. Please note that these tours are NOT included in your conference registration and additional fees will apply. You can book one or more of these tours through the conference registration page. These tours will run subject to registered interest and confirmed minimum numbers.

Accompanied by a specialist guide, you will make your way along Melbourne's leafy streets and through the maze of lanes and arcades found throughout the city centre discovering local designers and specialty retailers that often are only found in the city. You will explore Flinders Lane, Block Arcade, Royal Arcade, Degraves Street, Elizabeth Street and the GPO. A stop will be made for chocolate tasting and afternoon tea, coffee or hot chocolate to ensure you have enough energy to last. Take a leisurely cruise through Melbourne's Docklands area and Port Philip Bay to historic Williamstown - a quiet waterfront suburb which boasts a proud maritime history. Melbourne has the largest port in the southern hemisphere and your guide will provide information and stories about the history of the docks and the landings of the early Melbourne settlers. Enjoy a guided walk through Melbourne's beautiful lanes and arcades - Block Arcade and Royal Arcade are just some of the unique hidden gems of Melbourne you will explore. Stops will be made for afternoon tea at a local cafe and to buy wonderful chocolates from Haigh's before you cross the Yarra River to visit Eureka Tower, the tallest residential building in the southern hemisphere where you will enjoy breathtaking views over the city. For those wanting a little more adventure, step out onto The Edge, a glass cube that extends from the side of the building. The morning will start with a tram ride through the city to Queen Victoria Market where you will spend a couple of hours discovering the newest foods and trends in the company of a local guide. You will meet some of the specialist traders and pick up valuable hints on selecting produce while sampling the goods and enjoying the hustle of Melbourne's historical QVM. At the end of the market visit you will stop for breakfast at a local cafe. Held in a specially created café training room, your private barista class will teach you all you need to know about how to make great coffee. In this fun and relaxed practical session you will learn why the grind needs to be perfect, why the frothing and pouring needs to be spot on and how to make a perfect espresso, cappuccino and latte. Once you have mastered how to use the espresso machines and how to make great coffee you will form teams and compete to complete a set number of coffees on the coffee menu. Prizes are awarded for the best overall coffees and the best coffee artwork. The Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the most historical and famous sporting stadiums in the world with 100 Test matches, plus countless memorable one-day internationals being played at the ground. Highlights of your MCG tour will include a visit to the coaches' box, the players' change rooms (subject to availability), the Cricket viewing room, the Long Room and a walk on the arena (subject to availability). There will also be time to explore the National Sports Museum which is housed at The G.
